Listen: LAOISE – You

Every so often you come across an artist that draws you in be it from their creativity or their lyrics. LAOISE is an artist who done both of those things for me when I first saw her play with an acoustic guitar and then again when I saw her only a few days later with a full band set up. Her personal lyrics and definite style are something that set her apart from other emerging artists in Ireland.

'You' is the Galway singers debut single taken from her forthcoming EP 'Halfway'.

The candy floss electro pop that flows so effortlessly throughout the track all came about through the use of one laptop and a vocal mic in a make shift studio with producer Sean Behan, which makes it all the more impressive that the pair have managed to craft one of the most impressive debuts of 2016.

'You' draws on some of LAOISE's influences with the intro striking a similarity to Melanie Martinez's Cry Baby material with its creepy muffled vocals and child-like keys. It is when the song picks up with the first chorus that we get a real sense of her sound which has intricate vocals meticulously placed over drum beats and personal lyrics.

Expect to be seeing a lot more of LAOISE in 2017 which could very well be a break out year for the young Galway artist.
