'Not Her' is the new single from indie pop band The Optimists.
A track that discusses losing someone in a relationship and trying to constantly change and alter yourself to get over it. The emotional rock ballad is about not being able to move on from the past.
When I first heard this track I was quite surprised having seen this band perform at Electric Picnic over the summer. Their live set was full of energy and sass and a ballad track was not what I was expecting when pressing play. In saying that the track is everything you would want a rock ballad to be. There is a great sense of emotion and honesty to the lyrics. There is the almost staple build and of course good story telling throughout.
Having showcased a more mature sound with 'Not Her', The Optimists now have a decision to make as to what path to follow musically between the more upbeat, fun side and this more mature sound. Either way they are a name on the rise on the Dublin scene.
The Optimists are launching the single in the Workman’s Club in Dublin on Wednesday, April 26th.
