Review: Hvmmingbyrd – Out Of My Head

Hvmmingbyrd are a band whose name I have seen popping up a lot recently. I first came to know this band when I seen their name on the bill at one of the gigs in Abner Browns Barbershop in Rathmines and have since seen them mentioned and talked about quite a lot.

Their new single, 'Out OF My Head', premieres a shift sonically with the girls now having an alt-pop sound and a new line up: Deborah Byrne, original founder, joined by

singer/songwriter/pianist Suzette Das. The duo plan to build on Hvmmingbyrd's reputation for complex vocal arrangements and harmonies while introducing the use of loops and electronic samples to their live performances. 'Out Of My Head' is a track packed full with old school harmonies over a rising minimalistic beat and a catchy chorus. which promises for good things to come from the Irish duo.

Hvmmingbyrd are set to launch their new single 'Out of My Head' in Whelans Upstairs on Saturday, 2nd April with support from I Am Niamh, Saramai and Lauren Ni Chasaide.
