Review: Hvmmingbyrd – Know My Name EP

Hvmmingbyrd are a harmonic alt-pop Kildare/Dublin duo who have just released a new EP entitled 'Know My Name' produced by Hvmmingbyrd and Aisling Jarvis. This duo has been building a solid reputation over the last year with their impressive pop sounds that your brain just can't shake.

The EP kicks off with the recent single 'If Love Was Enough', a catchy up electro-pop song that showcases just how good these girls are! 'Blindsided' is up next which has a retro feel to it with the bass taking a major role in the track. It is at this point in the EP end that you can tell how much Deborah and Suzette are enjoying every moment of their musical journey.

'Never' is a track that seems to be taken straight out of the early 90s with its synth rhythms and processed vocals.

'Legacy' gives us a slightly different feel with a feeling of lingering darkness about the track. It has a certain cinematic quality to it that makes me think that this track needs to be the bands next video. The EP finishes on 'Wish You Well' a slower track that gives us a break from the upbeat nature of the rest of the EP. The track is full of intricate vocals that shape the music similar to how Ellie Goulding uses her vocals as an instrument. This is my favourite track on the EP as it showcases the fantastic vocals that the two girls possess as well as their knack for writing that catchy hook.

Know My Name sets the girls up for a fantastic future. When you listen to this EP it is not one to forget, the synth led melodies will be ringing in your ears for days! Hvmmingbyrd will be launching the EP on Thursday, September 29th in the Grand Social with support from Ailbhe Reddy and Rosa Nutty.
