Dublin based indie-pop quartet Ivy Nations, although three singles in, have unveiled their first music video for 'Live By Design'.
Continuing on from the past high energy releases 'Live By Design' is no different, but comes with a slightly darker edge. Commenting on how the world is trying to live out our fantasies rather than being individual and living our own lives. A discussion which is so relevant to the social media lifestyle that has become the norm in modern society.
The video for the track perfectly reflects the modern world. Showing a delivery boy living day to day the exact way he is programmed to. When he breaks free from that way of life and becomes his own being is when we see his true self. Speaking about the video, director Benn Veasey and producer Rufus Pinkerton explain, it’s “a story focusing on the ideas of determinism, design, choice & freedom…in a dystopian world that was at once dated and a bit grubby, but at the same time really quite colourful and vibrant in places.”
Singer Joe Kiernan says of the single, “[Live By Design] deals with the pace of modern life, where live out our fantasies while existing on the outer edges. The song reflects frustration, an inability to change the inner discourses that hold us back, and a desire to remove oneself from the race.”
You can catch Ivy Nations at a lot of festivals over the summer including YouBloom Festival, Sea Sessions and Indiependence.
